Teen & Parent Safe Driving Forum

The session will help both groups develop tools for younger drivers to use to stay safe behind the wheel. Guest speakers will discuss Kentucky’s graduated driving law, distracted driving risks, and consequences of driving under the influence. The forum will be held on Tuesday, March 21st from 7-8 pm in the Montgomery County High School auditorium. All teen drivers and parents/caregivers are encouraged to attend. Registration in advance is not required.

Car crashes are the #1 cause of death among teens. All teens start out at an increased risk for experiencing a car crash simply due to their inexperience. However, when teens have a learner’s permit and drive with a parent or caregiver, their risk of being involved in a car crash is still very low. It is at the point when teens become independent drivers that their risk for having a car crash skyrockets. It is apparent that studying for a learner’s permit and completing driver’s education classes are not enough. This forum will provide teen drivers with additional information and safe driving tips at the time when they need them the most.
